First off, the car has to be in the Parking area of your outpost. Second, you’re going to want to have somebody in your base that’s good at automechanics. Not only is that really useful in general, but it is pretty much necessary for upgrading, as we’ll see in a bit. Lastly, you’re going to want to build an Auto Shop facility in your outpost.

You’ll be able to find Vehicle Upgrade Kits In State of Decay 2 at some traders out in the open world. However, these are going to be pretty few and far between. Instead, your most reliable source of Vehicle Upgrade Kits will be your engineer that’s specialized in automechanics working in the Auto Shop. That’s why we’ve mentioned the two in the previous section. So, in short, your best bet to get Vehicle Upgrade Kits in State of Decay 2 will be crafting.
