Thanatos They Are Billions Unit – How to Use?

The Thanatos Unit in They Are Billions is a relatively versatile unit. They can shoot over walls, even though you can’t put them on a tower, so they’re a good defensive unit. When it comes to defense in general, they’re pretty good. Because they wield rocket launchers, they can do some sweet AOE damage to clusters of enemies. The game says that they deal 70 damage, but the distribution of damage is somewhat slanted. The center of the rocket blast does significantly more, while the adjacent tiles get much less. Also, if there’s several of them firing together, they’ll sometimes all focus on one single enemy unit, which isn’t always optimal. Regardless, they are a damned good defense, to the point that some players consider them better than Titans.

When it comes to offense, things get kinda dicey. The movement speed of the Thanatos unit isn’t that great. They do have a melee attack when the zombies come close to them, but it isn’t that great. Even a Runner zombie will take a few hits to go down. Thanatos can take a fair amount of punishment at 250 HP and 4 Armor, though, so it kinda evens out. What they are pretty good at, if you have several of them, is clearing out infected towns. They can level an undead settlement really quickly, so they’re pretty good for clearing out the terrain for you to expand further. The rockets are really loud, though, with 500 Noise, so they will garner quite a bit of attention. They can usually deal with it pretty well, though.

Whether or not the Thanatos unit works for you will depend on your overall strategy and tactics. They Are Billions is just that kind of game. As it is, though, Thanatos aren’t cheap, but they are definitely worth it, overall.
