Funeral Pyres is a secondary quest that involves burning the corpses of fallen soldiers. It starts in Velen a bit west of the village of Mulbrydale.

Quest Text

In No Man’s Land Geralt was given a contract by an Enternal Fire priest. His task: to burn the bodies of soldiers who had fallen during the recent battle in order to keep necrophages from eating them.

Walkthrough

Following contains quest spoilers. You’ve been warned

Find and burn the bodies lying in pits on the battle field (0/3).

If you track the quest pits are clearly marked on the map. Each pit has some ghouls you’ll have to fight. Use the oil priest gave you on the bodies and burn them with Igni. At one of the pits, you’ll find Titus Glelas fending off ghouls. If you help him, he’ll tell you the priest threw him into the pit.

Pits are marked on the map when you track the quest in your journal.

Use igni after you use the priest’s oil.

Titus and the priest have something shady going on.

Return to the priest of the Eternal Fire.

After you’re done with burning the bodies, go back to the priest, who is now located close to the bridge to Novigrad.
Choice 1

Complete the quest

You get this option only if Titus Glelas didn’t survive at the third pit.

You get 20 Crowns
Choice 2

Accept Priest’s Bribe

You can get a bribe of 60 Crowns if you’re willing to keep your mouth shut.
Choice 3

Refuse Priest’s Bribe

This will turn the priest and his two guards hostile. Once you defeat them you will loot 200 Crowns from the priest’s dead body

They turn hostile and you fight two lvl 4 guards and a squishy priest of Eternal Fire.

One of the better monetary rewards for an early quest.
