“Dear Zelda, sorry for not writing, the map is huge and I got lost. Link”

Most gamers have been taken aback by how huge the new Zelda game is and now Nintendo is promising DLCs, for the first time. There will be two of them, and the expansion pass will be available for $19.99 some time later this year. Eiji Aonuma, producer for the Legend of Zelda series, also mentions that the content packs will launch some time this summer and in the Holiday Season 2017.

The first DLC includes a Cave of Trials challenge, a new hard mode and a new feature for the map. The second one should add new challenges, a new dungeon and a new original story. This kind of large expansions with additional content is highly reminiscent of Witcher 3. Indeed, Eiji Aonuma has stated recently that he had been playing some western releases which influenced the Breath of the Wild. Titles such as GTA V, Skyrim and Witcher 3 certainly played a role in creating the new expansive Hyrule.

The content packs will be have the same content on both the Nintendo Switch and the Wii U. You will not be able to purchase them separately, which seems a bit weird. Still, as long as there’s no horse armor or monocles, it should be fine!
