Where to find Dark Link outfit in Zelda BoTW

You can buy the outfit from Kilton, a merchant who lives in a hot air balloon. He doesn’t accept rupees, however. He only deals in mon, a special currency he invented. You’ll need to give him monster parts in exchange for mon, then trade the mon for the Dark Link set pieces. You’ll need to murder scores of monsters – the average part is worth 5-10 mon, while the outfit you’re looking to buy costs 4000 mon – Tunic and Trousers are a little cheaper 1,000 mon per piece, while you’ll need 2,000 mon for the Hood.

You can speed up the process somewhat if you target tough enemies. Of course, this will only work if you’re certain you can beat them. If not, stick with the Moblins and Bokoblins.

Where to find Kilton vendor

He only appears after you’ve solved A Shady Customer quest. You can pick it up at East Akkala Stable. Talk to a guard named Hoz, and he’ll send you off to take a picture of Kilton. You’ll find the vendor on the western island in Skull Lake. Take a picture before you talk to him – you need a shot of him with his back turned towards you, but close enough so you can see the face on his hood. Bring the picture back to Hoz to end the quest.

After that, he’ll start appearing around bigger settlements, like Hateno Village and Zora’s Domain. He only works at night, so you’ll need to time your visits. If you have trouble finding him after the quest, look for high ground – the ballon has decorative lights, and can be seen from a distance if the weather is nice.

  1. P

I’ve beat the quest and found him at the different settlements and he doesn’t have the dark link outfit is there something im missing?

    1. I

You have to free all of the Divine Beasts

      1. I

Thanks! That’s probably an important note that SHOULD be in the guide…

        1. U

          Yeah absolutely

  2. L

I never finished the associated questline, but he’s not appearing at skull lake at nights anymore. Did I do something wrong?

    1. J

Hey Lucas, the quest line isn’t finished until you take a picture of Kilton and show it to the quest giver. Kilton should be appearing at night at any of the major settlements. I hope this helps.

      1. S

actually if he doesnt appear at skull lake anymore he will be on the outside of the towns then :p

  3. J

So I took a picture of his balloon but not of his face up close and then I talked to him and he said he was moving around towns but when I go back to Hoz it won’t let me show him the picture I think I took the picture to far away. Is there any way to find him again even after I talked to him? Because my picture was not close enough I’m assuming

    1. B

You have to be somewhat close when taking the picture and have him (with his back turned, as he’s not talking to you) in the center of the frame. You’ll see the little red exclamation mark in frame to let you know that this picture will work for the quest.

  4. A

why my Kilton vendor won’t sell the dark link item? is it random???

    1. U

u need kill all 4 beasts

  5. *

Where do I find the guy that gives you the quest to take a picture of kilton

    1. D
      Dis Guy

In East Akkala Stable, look around the people and find one guy called, Hoz. He’ll activate the quest and you go to skull lake. Teleport to the Zuna Kai shrine if possible. the you will see that you are on one eye. Paraglide to the next eye. Kilton will only be there at night.

  6. J

how many enemies do i have to kill exactly?

    1. N
      Not dis guy

      1,000,000,000,000 and I only got 6 mon

  7. N

I just found him near the Fairy by Akkala Tower. No towns in sight.

    1. M

That’s by the up and coming town Terrey Town.

      1. D
        Dis Guy

        Tarrey Town*

    2. M

actually there is a town, it’s called tarrey town. you have to do a quest to get tarrey town to show up though

  8. C

is there away to pinpoint which place he’ll be after the quest or do you have to keep travelling around?

  9. J

He appears before 4 Divine beasts. I first talked to him in skull lake after 2 divine beasts. Started selling me stuff right after that. The dark link armor didn’t appear until after 4 divine beasts

  10. T
    twilight prince

why won’t kilton show dark link I finished two divine beasts and it showed the tunic pants and hood I went to hateno and its not there help required?!!!!

    1. G

twilight prince u have to complete all 4 divine beasts

  11. K

You don’t have to finish the side quest for him to start moving around to towns. You just need to speak to Kilton himself.

    1. L

I really need help. I’ve sold so much monster stuff to kilton, bought all of his stuff horse armor included, beat three divine beasts, yet I still can’t get a single item from kilton that I saw I never the dark series. HELP!

      1. ?

You need all the beasts, not just 3.

  12. L
    Lynel Girl

Why won’t kilton sell me the dark series?

    1. A

Complete all divine beasts, that´s requierd to get the Dark Series! However the dark link set is pretty useless since one can´t upgrade it :/

    2. S
      Savage The Link

Free the four devine beasts first, then it should apear

  13. L

It won’t work!!! I real y want the costume

  14. S

I never sold any monster stuff until I met kilton, cashed in all at once and ended up with 4001 mons off the bat xd

  15. L

actually, what is the use of the dark series ? Just something that looks cool ?

  16. T

It pretty much just a cosmetic. You can get the Night Speed Up set bonus from the Sheikah Stealth Armor(which costs 2,100 rupees and can be bought at the clothing store in Kakariko village), when upgraded twice and worn as a set, so you don’t .

  17. T

*So you don’t need it for the set bonus
