Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Depths Armor Upgrade Cost & Materials

During your exploration of the underground area of Hyrule, called the Depths, you’ve probably gotten infected by the Gloom status effect numerous times. This scary debuff can decimate your health in a second. Hence, if you’re having issues with the Depths, we advise you to upgrade the Depths Armor set as soon as possible. Namely, the complete Depths Armor set, when worn, protects four of your hearts from getting disabled by Gloom.

Given the importance of exploring the Depths for materials and the prevalence of Gloom there, it is highly recommended to upgrade each piece of armour as soon as possible, as it will grant you more protection against its status effect. “In addition, you receive a set bonus called Gloom Attack Resist. This grants you Gloom Resistance when being attacked by Gloom Hands and other monsters whose attacks are inflicting the Gloom status on you.”

I hear this repeated everywhere but it’s just not true? If you get attacked by a gloomy monster with the L2 gloom set, it still glooms your normal red hearts and does nothing to reduce the damage you take.

    1. Did you upgrade your set to get the set bonus?

You have to fully upgrade it to LVL 4 to get that effect. LVL 2 only doesn’t grant you that.
