In Search of Truth and Treasure quest is the final part of the Assassin’s Treasure hunt in Final Fantasy XV. When you solve it, you’ll get a prize that transfers over to the main game. It’s much easier than the previous steps, but there are still places to get stuck. In this guide, we’re going to show you what is the color of lies, to help you complete FFXV In Search of Truth and Treasure quest.
The Color of Lies
During the last step of the previous quest, you found out that the color purple isn’t to be trusted. There was one big moment where you trusted it – the maze puzzle. Go back to the Lightning board, and review the instructions. This time, do everything according to the instructions, except for the purple part. Here’s what you need to do:
- Go down the street on your right, past the shop and down the two flights of stairs.
- Turn right when you reach the pole where you ended up in the maze puzzle the first time around.
- Turn left at the next crossroads.
Your goal is the thick steel post by the road, near the place where the chocobo races start. There’s a note on it – do the opposite of what the purple ink tells you and go to the place marked with the moon icon. You’ll meet an assassin there, and he’ll ask you a question. It doesn’t matter what you say – both answers are wrong. You need to get it wrong in order to proceed with the riddle.
If you open up the map after the conversation, you’ll notice the butterfly icons are now purple. This means the info on the butterfly board is a lie, as well as anything the Templar envoy told you (including how the Pendant of Truth is important). Go to the sun board, and you’ll discover it’s actually the Templar’s insignia. In other words, you need to get rid of it. Go to the shop in the alley, the one you’ve passed by several times, and sell it for 999 gil.
Return to the moon icon and talk to the guard once again. Select “purple“. Now that you don’t have the pendant anymore, he’ll let you pass. Once you reach the end of the alley, you’ll find your prize – the Medjay Assassin’s Shield – and one final note.
