CD Projekt Red has, at long last, revealed the launch date of Cyberpunk 2077 in a new cinematic trailer. It’s coming out on April 16th, 2020. And, as you’ve likely already noticed, the trailer features none other than Keanu Reeves. What’s his character’s role in the whole thing? Well, we don’t know, but don’t even begin to pretend that you don’t want to find out as soon as possible.
Correction corner: Keanu Reeves will play Johnny Silverhand, an established character and rock star in the Cyberpunk lore (thanks, Bethany).
Ever since we got our first glimpses of Cyberpunk 2077 months ago, we’ve been waiting impatiently for further updates. But, until very recently, CD Projekt Red hasn’t showed us a single things. Now, however, the hype train can start going right off the rails. They released a cinematic trailer for the game, which is cool on its own. The main takeaway, though, is that we finally know when the game is coming out. Mark your calendars for April 16th, 2020. You’ll be able to play on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
As for the trailer itself, it shows us about four minutes of cinematic footage. It’s a fairly standard cyberpunk fare. Our hero risks life and limb to get a chip for some crime lord. His partner dies as they make their escape. Then, because all of the ruckus they’ve caused and the police on their backs, the crime lord double-crosses our hero and a shootout starts. Later on, our hero wakes up, and he’s approached by someone telling him that there’s a whole city to burn. Honestly, it’s as Cyberpunk as it gets. As far as the old tabletop RPG goes, I mean.
And, yes, the trailer does indeed feature Keanu Reeves, of all people. What his role in the actual game is going to be, I don’t know, but I am very curious to figure it out. We’ll have to wait for mid-April next year to find out. Until then, if you haven’t already, you can watch the new Cyberpunk 2077 cinematic trailer below.
