The many cars and bikes that you’ll be able to drive and collect in your garage will come with AI installed. As a result, you’ll be able to call your ride over if you’ve left it behind. And/or need to make a quick escape. The same won’t be true for flying cars, though, nor boats. Not that there won’t be any flying cars nor boats in the game. It’s not even like you won’t be in a flying vehicle at some point. They’re just not gonna be your main mode of transportation.
To the surprise of I assume nobody, your vehicle in Cyberpunk 2077 will come to you when summoned. According to what lead quest designer Pawel Sasko told VG24/7, all the cars and bikes come equipped with AI. So, you call it over, and it’ll come to you. You can even watch it as it arrives. I’m not gonna lie, I am really hoping that it’s gonna have the same glitches as Roach in The Witcher 3. Can you imagine summoning your car, and finding it instead embedded into the fortieth floor of a high-rise?
Oh, and you’ll also be able to build up a collection of vehicles in your garage, kinda like in GTA. However, there will be certain types of transportation that you won’t be able to pilot. For example, boats. As Sasko said to VG24/7: “…boats are a part of the game but you cannot drive the boat.” You will be able to swim, though. The same rules apply to flying vehicles as to boats: “…there are moments when you are in the flying vehicle but you cannot drive it yourself over the city.” However, unlike traversing water, I doubt you’ll be able to fly on your own.
Sasko couldn’t go further into details to avoid spoiling the story. So, if you wanna know more about boats, flying, and vehicles in the game in general, it seems like you’re just gonna have to play the game. Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out on April 16th, 2020, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Before that, though, we’ll get to see the E3 2019 gameplay footage at PAX West.
