How to Dismount in Elden Ring

There are two ways to dismount in Elden Ring. The easiest one is to just hit L3, aka press the left stick on your controller. This instantly makes your spectral steed Torrent disappear. If you do it in a gallop, you can actually launch yourself off. The action is instantaneous, and can lead to moments that can be either pretty epic or incredibly comical, depending on how well you pull it off. This is probably the best way to get off of your horse. Alternatively, you can use the Spectral Steed Whistle that Melina gave you to unsummon Torrent. It is the longer way around, since you’ll probably switch away from the whistle as soon as you use it the first time. Not a good position to be in, especially if you’re in combat and every moment matters.

And there you have it, that’s how you dismount in Elden Ring. With all of that said, keep in mind that you’ll need to use the whistle to summon Torrent back after you make it disappear. So, again, be tactical with your actions. Only dismount when you feel it’s absolutely necessary; otherwise, you might lose valuable seconds and get cleaved in twain. Once more, it’s always easier to just use L3, so don’t forget it, like somebody in the GosuNoob office kept doing. I’m not gonna name names. Just be careful and don’t do it mid-gallop, lest you catapult yourself into certain doom.

Very early in your exploration of Elden Ring world you will find out that you need to prepare your character for different tasks. You'll need to learn how to use Ashes of War, how to two-hand weapons, or use magic spells during the course of your adventures. Many secrets are also waiting for you, such as, a hostile NPC Sellen that doesn't let you see her shop, an invisible man in a bush, or a huge turtle with a bell that lets you duplicate some very important items.
