How to Upgrade Armor and Weapons in God of War Ragnarok

To upgrade your armor and weapons in God of War Ragnarok, you have to visit the blacksmith, aka the Huldra Brothers shop. While you won’t have access to them from the jump, it won’t be long before the game reintroduces you to the dwarven smiths. Every time you want to level up your gear, you’ll have to pay them a visit. Just approach their bench and press Circle to enter the menu. Switch between the Weapons, Armor, Special Item and Sell tabs using L2 and R2. I don’t think the UI is going to give you any trouble from there. After you’ve selected the piece of gear you want to upgrade, just hold the Square button until the bar fills up. If you have the right materials, of course, and enough hacksilver to pay.

Yes, in order to upgrade weapons and armor in God of War Ragnarok (and other gear), you need to gather various resources. Some require specific materials. For example, You must have Frozen Flames for the Leviathan Axe, Chaos Flames (and Chaos Sparks) for the Blades of Chaos, Jewels of Yggdrasil for the amulet, Beast Scraps and Beast Bones for the accessories, etc. For the most part, though, you’ll have to spend hacksilver and upgrade materials. Each piece of equipment you select will list what you need to the next level it up at the bottom of the screen. So, you’ll never be confused as to what you have to farm for, if you’re really set on a specific bit of gear.
