UPDATE: Darktide players report connection issues on Wednesday, July 5th, at around 10 am CEST / 9 am BST / 6 am EDT / 3 am PDT. This is most likely why you are receiving the WH40K Darktide Backend Error – there is a server outage. We will make sure to update the article once we have more information.
The Backend error in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is one of the most common ones at the start of the preorder early access. Players are either receiving this error while trying to start the game and log into the Pre-Order Beta servers or when they are going through the character creation process. Or, if you are lucky enough, you might be able to play the prologue or a match or two, and then you would be kicked out with this message.
This is clearly a problem that should not happen, and we hope the developers will find a solution soon. However, while we are waiting for the developer to fix it, we can provide you with a few temporary workarounds. The first solution for the Darktide Backend Error is the easier one. “Restart your router or disconnect / reconnect to wifi, someone had this tip on discord, and it worked for me,” claims Reddit user Raginor_the_Defiler.

However, I got an VPN and it seems to work. I got past the character creation screen, finally!
The beta ends in 3 days and I’ve never even gotten past “press space to play”. I’m actually kind of annoyed I bothered to preorder it at all. Nothing has worked, restarting router, uninstalling then reinstalling, vpns. The game better work on release day
damn im having this issue, I cant create any new characters. I was able to create a zealot and an ogryn. I wanted to try the sysker so I thought that maybe im limited to two operative slots for the beta so I deleted my ogryn (he was much lower leveled) to make room to try the psyker. Nope im still getting the back end error message every time I try to create a character. So now im stuck as only my zealot, bruh
