Skimmer is the third mount you can get in Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire. It’s a giant creature that looks like a manta ray, except it can levitate. Its main selling point is that it can hover above quicksand and the dangerous waters of the southern areas, letting you cross them unharmed. Getting it will help you solve a whole new bunch of puzzles and collect mastery points that were previously inaccessible. How to unlock skimmer mount?

The skimmer is located in the Elon Riverlands. In order to get it, you’ll need a raptor with Canyon Jump unlocked. Once you reach the area, head south to the Skimmer Ranch. It’s on the coast, west of Vulture Drifts. You’ll need to jump over some stones to get to it. Once you’re there, talk to Skimmer Trainer Ardra – she’ll ask you to deliver apples to famished villagers using one of the strange beasts. When you’ve fed every last hungry mouth at the ranch, go back and talk to her again. She’ll offer to sell you a skimmer for 50 trade contracts and four gold.

Skimmer mount abilities & masteries

The skimmer’s most notable ability is the gliding over dangerous stuff, but it can also heal your allies, turning you into a kind of swift and highly mobile battle medic.
  • Nimble Recovery – Allows for quicker recovery when you’re knocked off, with added protection.
  • Rejuvenating Revival – Increases rejuvenating properties of Barrel Roll and lets you heal allies.
  • Ride the Wind – Increases hover height and lets you ride the wind.
  • Nimble Benevolence – Gives the Nimble Recovery buff to all other mounts.
It seems like quite the useful beast to have, so better start pumping those mastery points into it as soon as you can. If you’re having trouble with the other mounts, be sure to check out our guides for the raptor and springer.
