Shadow of War producer who died of cancer will appear in the game DLC

Middle-Earth Shadow of War is soon to arrive and Monolith and Warner Bros have already gone out of their way to present all the extra goodies that can be purchased in the game. There is one, however, which a lot of people might decide to go for out of the goodness of their heart.

Michael Forgey, an executive producer in Monolith, died last year at the age of 43, from a brain tumor. The developers have decided to honor him by adding a DLC character called Forthog Orc-Slayer. This character is supposed to appear randomly and one-shot-kill the enemy the player is fighting at that exact moment. If you decide to buy the DLC, that is, which will be sold for $3.50, with proceeds going to Forgeys family members through December 31st, 2019.

The late producer was well-loved, as Kevin Stephens, Monolith studio head, says. “Mike was larger than life. He was our front man in many respects.”

Phil Straub, the art director, echoes Kevin’s words by adding: “Mike was a fantastic guy. He was a guy who always wanted to help people. He was a great manager of people.”

Forgey, a father of three, was a big fan of music and he played in a band consisting of Monolith staff, dubbed Orc Slayer. Since the character of Forthog Orc-Slayer was designed to represent Forgey’s personality, he also has an axe that looks more like a guitar. It seems to be pretty devastating as you can see in the trailer above. The song that accompanies the Orc-killing was written and performed by Michael Forgey as well. All in all, a nice touch by Monolith and WB.
