How to Catch Shiny Zapdos in Pokemon GO

To catch a shiny Zapdos in Pokemon GO, you basically first have to wait for the legendary bird to appear in Raids. It’s not exactly the kind of Pokemon that you can just find hanging out in the wild. Fortunately, Zapdos does tend to come back to five-star Raids every so often. In fact, you’ll be finding it in exactly those Raids from July 7th to July 14th, 2022. So, if you want a shiny Zapdos, be sure to go out there and participate in as many Raids as you can. Also, check out our Zapdos Counters, Weakness & Best Moveset guide to see which Pokemon are good to use against it. Plus, you can learn more about which moves it can throw at you, allowing for precise encounter planning.

The other potential stumbling block when trying to catch a shiny Zapdos in Pokemon GO is that it’s very difficult to differentiate from a regular Zapdos. It’s just a few shades of yellow darker than the normal version. On top of that, encountering a shiny Zapdos is exceedingly rare. That basically means that you should go for every single Zapdos Raid that you find. If you emerge victorious, you’ll get an encounter with the boss. Catch it even if it isn’t shiny, because why would you go through all that trouble and abandon your prize? With any luck, you’ll find at least one that’s shiny. May the gods of RNG be in your favor.
