While wandering around Toussaint, Geralt did not neglect his vocation and the true core of his existence, namely, pursuing and slaying monsters.
Having found a notice on a notice board, posted by a merchant guild beset by some beast, the witcher decided to go to the appointed spot to learn about the details of the matter.

After you take the notice from the notice board, travel to the merchant camp in the north, near the swamp. Investigate the scene to find out what happened.

Using your Witcher Senses, investigate the campsite
Use your witcher senses to examine the scene. Talk to Borhis, who will refuse to tell you where to find the beast. Use your senses again to start looking for the basilisk. You’ll end up meeting a group of Reavers, trying to hunt down the beast. This is where the quest diverges.

Beast needs to die. Let’s do it.
If you choose this, you’ll get to kill the basilisk with the Reavers’ help. You’ll get to tell them whether to just shoot it from afar or to join you in close quarter combat.
Keep in mind that Iocaste has a weakness to fire – use Igni as much as you can. Try your best to dodge, too, since the beast can poison you.
Once it’s dead, you’ll get the 400 crowns from the Reavers’, plus whatever you find on the monster (a trophy, some rare alchemy ingredients and a steel sword).

I started the mission ‘Mutual of Beauclair’s Wild Kingdom’ by accident when I was too low a level so I decided to leave it and come back when I was a high enough level. I have just tried the mission again but I can no longer interact with the objects that give you the scent trail so I can no longer continue. Any help please! I am on PS4

just go to where the beast is, no need to follow the trail. look up a youtube vid to find its location.
Go back to the barrel, in the Trading Post, that had the scent and retrace the smell.
