Quest Text

While traveling the downtrodden lands of Velen and the former Temerian border regions, Geralt found clues about the location of a set of diagrams for crafting the legendary equipment once worn by the Viper School of witchers. Motivated by curiosity and the prospect of acquiring these priceless objects, he decided to pursue this lead.

Additional Info

You can start the quest by exploring the fort near the ransacked village east of White Orchard.

Following contains quest spoilers. You’ve been warned

Search the castle ruins

Climb the fort from the west side and deal with the four deserters up top. One of them is level 5, so be careful. Once they’re dead, loot the chest inside the tower – it contains the diagram for Viper Steel Sword.

Once the coast is clear, go into the tower…

Read the report

You’ll find an interrogation report inside the chest. Read it, and you’ll find out where Kolgrim possibly died.

Find Kolgrim’s remains.

Go to White Orchard Cemetery. Fight the level 7 wraith outside, then use Aard on the door and go down the stairs. Finish off the wraith, and go right. You’ll find Kolgrim’s body against a wall.

Read Kolgrim’s letter.

Along with the Viper Silver Sword diagram, you’ll find a letter Kolgrim wrote, detailing his demise.

Find diagrams for all the elements of Viper School Gear.

Once you’ve found both diagrams, all that’s left is to craft the swords. You can go to the quartermaster at the Nilfgaardian outpost up north.
