Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Room of Awakening Puzzle Solution

The first thing you will do after the Ganondorf cutscene under the Hyrule Castle is to awake in the Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Room of Awakening. Almost completely naked and only with the Decayed Master Sword by your side. And after you touch the green portal-like structure, a couple of things will happen. Firstly, a fast travel point in that location will activate. However, you will not be able to use it immediately. Secondly, these massive cogwheels made of stone will start rotating. This is not a coincidence, there must be some first room puzzle in Zelda TOTK? Well, you are correct. There is! However, it’s not about what to do. Rather, it’s about when to do it. WARNING: Minor first area spoiler ahead.

Namely, this Room of Awakening puzzle is not meant to be completed immediately at the start of the game. Rather, you will be able to finish the First Room puzzle near the end of the tutorial region (Great Sky Island). After you find the third Shrine in the area, you will learn the Ascend ability. And when you enter the Temple of Time, you will learn to use Recall. After that, the game will naturally bring you back to the Room of Awakening puzzle in Zelda TOTK.

Combining Ascend and Recall will let you complete the first room puzzle in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Use Ascend to climb a small platform near the right cogwheel. Then use Recall on that same cogwheel to make it rotate in the opposite direction. Finally, jump to the other side via the two cogwheels. This will let you reach the fourth and final Great Sky Island Shrine – the Nachoyah Shrine. So there you have it, that’s the solution for the Room of Awakening Zelda Tears of the Kingdom puzzle.
