Cyberpunk 2077 Romance Options Will Be More Diverse Than in Witcher
Cyberpunk 2077 is going to offer a lot of romance options. You can expect to see much more freedom of choice than in the Witcher series. Since you’ll be playing as your very own character, CD Projekt Red will try to let you have many different and meaningful interactions with the NPCs. Expect to meet gay, bi, straight characters, as well as a choice between casual encounters and meaningful, game-long relationships.
One of the hallmarks of CD Projekt Red games, like many other RPGs, was romancing other characters. Naturally, Cyberpunk 2077 is going to offer romance options, too. However, CDPR is planning to broaden the scope of possibilities. After all, you’ll be playing as your very own character in Cyberpunk 2077. It makes sense that they’ll offer you more chances to interact with the world of the game however you want. You’ll have a large plethora of NPCs of different sexual orientations, plus the option of having both casual hookups and more meaningful relationships.
Patrick Mills, quest designer at CD Projekt Red, described it in an interview with Game Informer as: “Similar to the Witcher, but with more diversity.” After all, in The Witcher, we play as Geralt, who is a very well-defined character in the novels. In Cyberpunk 2077, things are different. As Mills puts it: “You know, you’re defining your own character here, which means defining their sexuality any way you want… We’ve got NPCs that are gay, we’ve got NPCs that are bi, we’ve got NPCs that are straight, because we want them to feel real and that they have preferences as well.”
To further evolve the concept, they will be offering different types of relationships you can pursue. According to Mills: “We’re aiming for big, complicated relationships that continue over the course of the game, but also casual encounters that don’t matter that much.” So, that’s what we know about romancing options in Cyberpunk 2077.
