He’s not too tough, but finding him can be a problem. When you defeat him, you’ll get a cool new weapon and access to the PVP arena. This guide will show you where to find Champion’s Gravetender boss in Ashes of Ariandel, how to defeat him.

Where to find Champion’s Gravetender boss

Spawn at the Ariandel Chapel bonfire. Leave the chapel and walk up to the hanging bridge. Swing at it until it collapses. Use it as a ladder. After you climb down, descend the giant roots. You’ll have to fight some Followers on the way down – just be careful how you move. The biggest threat are the Millwood Knights with bows. Once you’re down on the ice, you’ll see a new bonfire. Activate it and follow the path to the boss arena.

How to beat Champion’s Gravetender

He will appear with three wolves – take care of them first, so they won’t bother you. Dealing with the gravetender is pretty straightforward. He’s like an NPC invader, only with a bigger health bar. Three hits will break his block, so if you’ve got the stamina, you can spam him to oblivion. Make sure he doesn’t shield bash you, or you’ll get stunned. Once you’ve whittled his health away, the giant wolf will appear, announced by a loud howl.

Finish the gravetender before you move on to the wolf. If you don’t, he’ll cast spells while you fight the wolf, making it much more difficult.

How to beat Gravetender Greatwolf

The wolf has a frost breath attack you should avoid – it causes frostbite buildup. Instead of chasing him around the arena, make sure you’re standing with your back against a wall. When he jumps over you, he’ll hit the wall. All you have to do is turn around and start hitting him.

Once they’re both dead, you’ll get the Valorheart and Champion’s Ashes. The first one is a gladius paired with a buckler, while the latter is used to unlock the PVP arena.
