Assassin's Creed Valhalla Story Trailer Revealed

With the launch of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla drawing ever closer, Ubisoft is, naturally, releasing more and more promo material. The latest is the story trailer, which sets up the events of the game. We also learn a little bit more about the character of Eivor (and I do mean a little), as well as the setting of England in the late 800’s. They show us our enemies, our friends, and mysterious characters who we have yet to learn about.

So, what is the setup of AC Valhalla? Well, somewhat like in actual history, the Vikings begin their raids and searching for a new place to call home due to dwindling resources and wars. Thanks to their brother Sigurd, Eivor and their clan voyage to England to carve out a place for themselves. However, Sigurd apparently returns from his journeys accompanied by people in very familiar-looking hoods. You know that they have their own agenda for going to England with an army of pillage-happy Vikings.

Naturally, there are many perils that you’ll be facing once you do make it across the sea. For one, there are all the Saxon kings, including Alfred of Wessex, who. historically speaking, knew how to handle your kind. On top of that, we have the “warmongering sons of Ragnar Lothbrok;” in other words, there are other Vikings already in England, and they won’t take kindly to you trying to muscle your way in. Lastly, there’s “a mysterious, growing threat to England’s destiny” that you’ll have to deal with. Your plate will be more than full.

If there’s one criticism that I’d level against the trailer, it’s that it really doesn’t do much to make Eivor interesting. Even the opening narration kinda makes them seem boring. Well, maybe not boring, necessarily, but definitely generic. I guess we’ll see when the game launches. Reminder, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is coming out on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Stadia, and PS4 on November 10th. On PlayStation 5, you’ll be able to play it on November 12th, except in Europe, where it launches on November 19th.
