Remove White Fog Barrier in Elden Ring

If you want to remove a white fog barrier in Elden Ring, you’re first gonna need a specific item – Stonesword Key. You’ll come across a fog barrier in the first cave, but the same thing works on all white fog walls. Next, you’ll have to find a special statue of imps, which is usually near the barrier, and place the item in it. All in all, we’re not talking about a super-complicated system. However, the first time you find it, you might get stuck figuring out what to do. That’s where we come in with this guide.

How to Remove White Fog Barrier in Elden Ring

To remove a fog barrier in Elden Ring, you’re going to need at least one Stonesword Key. See, every one of these fog walls have a statue of imps somewhere in the vicinity, as you can see in the images below. Think of them as gargoyles, if it’ll make it easier for you to remember; the game calls them imp statues, so that’s what we’ll be calling them. Approach the statue and examine it. The game will then ask you whether you want to use a Stonesword Key. Choose yes, and the fog barrier will go down. You know, if you have enough Stonesword Keys in your inventory. There’s usually good stuff to be found behind the fog barriers, though, so it’ll be worth the cost.

And there you have it, that’s how you remove any fog barrier in Elden Ring. Again, keep in mind that some imp statues will require only one Stonesword Key, but some will require more. Also, these keys are a finite resource. I don’t mean in the sense “there’s not enough of them,” but there is only a set amount to be found. They are obtainable either from certain chests, or on the floor in hard-to-reach areas, or from merchants, and so on; you get the idea. You can also start the game with a Stonesword Key if you choose it as your starting keepsake at the beginning of the game. Which, incidentally, is not a bad keepsake to choose at all, if you want to make things easier on yourself at the beginning. Not the best one, necessarily, but still really good.

Very early in your exploration of Elden Ring world you will find out that you need to prepare your character for different tasks. You'll need to learn how to use Ashes of War, how to two-hand weapons, or use magic spells during the course of your adventures. Many secrets are also waiting for you, such as, a hostile NPC Sellen that doesn't let you see her shop, an invisible man in a bush, or a huge turtle with a bell that lets you duplicate some very important items.
