How to Ride Animals in Monster Hunter World Iceborne?

To ride animals in Monster Hunter World Iceborne, all you have to do is walk around the animal until the game gives you a button prompt to mount said animal. On PlayStation, the button you have to press is Circle by default; you’ll figure out what your button is pretty easily. Some animals might not let you ride them; if they don’t, just go to another one, simple as that. Once you’re on the back of an animal, you’ll get the list of controls in the upper right corner. You can drop down, aim your slinger, perform a jumping slash, and more.

However, there’s one, potentially more important and useful mechanic here. If you’ve ever mounted one of the animals in Iceborne, you might have noticed that you can’t direct them where to go. They take you where they want. However, if you remain patient and stick with them, you might be reward it. As it walks around, the animal you’re riding is gonna start digging at the ground. When it pops up, immediately press Circle (or your equivalent), and you’ll get the hidden item that the animal discovered. These might vary from Adamant Seeds, to feystones, and the like.

And, that’s about it when it comes to riding animals in Monster Hunter World Iceborne. If you need further help, I invite you to check out some of our other Monster Hunter World Iceborne guides.
