How to Make Gunpowder in New World

To craft and make gunpowder in New World, you’re going to need the following ingredients: five Charcoal, two Flint, and one Saltpeter. Those are the absolute basics. Take them to your workbench (which I believe might need to be Level 2, but I’m not sure that’s the case) and find Gunpowder under the Engineering Components tab. Those are the bare bones of the process, so let’s now get into more detail on how to get each of the materials. Some of them are a bit more difficult than others.

First off, to get Charcoal, cut down some wood and turn it into charcoal by placing it into the Smelter. That part is simple. As for Flint, you can mainly find it in rocks that are near water. Lastly, Saltpeter is most commonly found in small caves dotted around the map. For more info on that, check out our Where to Find Saltpeter New World guide. Basically, just follow the main quest until you need to kill the Chamberlain in the cave. Once you have everything you need to craft gunpowder in New World, head to the workshop and the workbench and make some. Now you’re one step closer to being able to make bullets, but that’s a matter for a different guide.

And that about does it. If you need assistance with something else in the game, check out some of our other New World guides. Among other articles, we’ve written stuff like How to Get Fae Iron and Petalcap Location – Weakness of the Ego.
