To access the co-op mode at all, you will have to play a bit of the single player mode first. You must finish at least the starting mission of Watch Dogs 2, so you can gain access to your phone and the Hackerspace network. This guide will show you how to play coop in Watch Dogs 2.

How to play Watch Dogs 2 with friends

If you want to start a co-op session, take your phone, go to the menu and select Multiplayer application (it is located in the corner of the screen). Select the co-op option and invite people from your friend list or start the matchmaking. Once the other player joins your game, you can take on the missions together, or just free roam around the city. Don’t forget that you will unlock this option when you finish the introductory mission in the game. Watch Dogs 2 Multiplayer not working

One of the main features of the game, Watch Dogs 2 multiplayer, is not currently working. The multiplayer part of the game is causing the game to lag and crash from time to time, so they decided that it is for the best to take the multiplayer feature offline until it is fixed.

The fix will come in the form of a patch, and it is ready for release on Ubisoft’s side. The reason why it has not gone live just yet is that it has to go through the certification process of Sony and Microsoft. We bring you the full statement from Ubisoft:
During the pre-launch phase of Watch Dogs 2, we discovered an issue tied to the seamless multiplayer feature that caused the game to lag and crash periodically. In order to eliminate that issue at launch and for players to enjoy a smooth game play experience, we have decided to wait to launch the seamless multiplayer feature until the patch that fixes this issue is deployed. The patch is currently in certification by Sony and Xbox. In the meantime, players can still play the full single-player experience without any concerns and play co-op by inviting friends through the game menu. But that does mean that the Bounty-Hunter mode and other activities that would occur with other outside players who enter your game will be unavailable until the patch is deployed on each platform. We will update this page as soon as there is some new information regarding this issue. In the meantime, see where you can find Aiden Pierce in the world of San Francisco.
