The Witcher 3 Armor

In The Witcher 3, armor is used in order to protect you and change your appearance. There are three categories of armor – light, medium and heavy. There are also four types of it – common, magical, master and witcher armor. Using a single set or armor (boots, gloves, trousers and chest armor) provides additional protection. In this guide, we’ll show you the look and stats of every piece of The Witcher 3 Armor, along with their locations or ways to get them.

Common Armor

Common armor is the weakest. It can be used as a change of clothes if you get tired of wearing the same old outfit all the time, but provides meager protection. Some of it’s worth keeping, since most of the elegant or formal garb is in this category – you may need it for a quest down the line.

Master Armor

Master armors provide great bonuses to protection from certain types of (mostly) physical damage. They are great for dealing with enemies that rely on brute force, and will be your safety net for a large part of the game. It is recognizable by the blue background colour in the inventory.

Magic Armor

Magic armor possesses magical qualities, like influencing your sign intensity, magic resistance or vigor regeneration. In the inventory screen, there’s a yellow tint to it in the inventory screen.

Witcher armor

The Witcher sets of armor are the best you can find. They can be improved by crafting, and every upgrade manifests itself in better protection and a nicer look. They offer witcher-specific bonuses to their wearers, like reduced damage from monsters. You’ll recognize them by the green inventory background.

Relic Armor

Relic items are rare, ancient artifacts with magical powers. The same is true of Relic armor. Thanks to its magical properties, this armor can provide bonuses that have nothing to do with protection, like increasing your Vitality. It is represented by a brown-reddish color in the inventory.
