The Disney Afternoon Collection: Capcom brings back childhood to a generation

In its attempt to get all its games ever to as many of the current gaming platforms as possible, Capcom is really doing its best. Just yesterday they announced that Resident Evil Revelations is coming to PS4 and Xbox One. Another batch of games is coming, this time consisting of their classics: Chip’n’Dale Rescue Rangers 1 and 2, Duck Tales 1 and 2, Darkwing Duck and TaleSpin.

Dubbed The Disney Afternoon Collection, the games will be remastered, featuring 1080p resolution, graphic filters and new modes. Oh, and a rewind feature, because gamers of today are whiny little buggers. It’s not like they relish Dark Souls or anything.

This collection comes flying high on the wings of DuckTales: Remastered from 2013, which came to PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, iOS, Android and Windows Phone. So, pretty much everywhere, because that is how they do it at Capcom!

DuckTales: Remastered received solid reviews, with GameRankings scores in low 70s and Metacritic between 66 and 76. Well, solid for pretty much everyone except the most extreme of Zelda fans. DuckTales: Remastered featured, apart from improved graphics, an expanded storyline and a full voice cast, including all of the actors and actresses from the original animated series who were alive at the time.

It remains unclear as to why Nintendo (or Capcom) did not consider this collection to be a great launch title for Nintendo Switch. The versatile console would make short work of the graphics and it is no secret that these games were all initially released on one of the most iconic consoles of all times, the legendary NES. Just seems a shame such a bit of nostalgia was missed by the marketing teams of both companies.

The Disney Afternoon Collection will be released on April 18th, on apparently everything but the Nintendo Switch.
