Destiny 2 Prestige Leviathan Raid World First Team Used Glitch to Win

The World’s First team to beat the Leviathan Raid in Destiny 2 on Prestige difficulty has been announced by Bungie. Unfortunately, it seems that the winning team used an ammo glitch and rode it to victory. To make things worse, this wasn’t the glitch that Bungie detected before launch, and postponed the Prestige Raid release over it.

Clan Redeem has become the World First team to beat the Destiny 2 Leviathan Raid on Prestige difficulty. They got their official congratulations from Bungie, and all seemed well. Until people started reporting that the team had been exploiting a glitch in order to win. And, needless to say, the community isn’t too happy about this development.

The fact that the world’s first team to beat the raid on Prestige used a glitch is incredibly ironic. Bungie delayed the Prestige Raid launch for a full week, because they discovered a glitch that made it easy. According to Eurogamer, they didn’t manage to patch it out, but they did include a method of detecting it. And, indeed, Redeem didn’t use that glitch. Instead, they used the Coil Glitch, which has been around since launch, and many Guardians know about it. When executed correctly, it refills your Power Ammo immediately.

Bungie has responded to the situation. Despite the community protests, or maybe because of it, the response is pretty non-committal. By the sound of it, Clan Redeem will get to keep their title of World First. Here’s the response from Bungie’s community manager:

We have seen the reports that an ammo exploit was used today in the Prestige Raid. This was not the specific exploit we were checking for and we don’t currently have the ability to detect it. Tomorrow we will release the top three finishers in the TWAB [This Week At Bungie blog]. You can make your own decision as to who should be celebrated.
