How to Lock on Enemies in Ghost of Tsushima?

To lock on enemies in Ghost of Tsushima, you have to switch between them by pointing the left stick towards one guy in a group. So, when you’re fighting a bunch of people, you can quickly switch between them and choose who you want to attack on the fly. Also, if you dodge out of the way from a group, Jin will automatically target the closest enemy, which might not be the one you’re after. At those moments, switching between them with your left stick is extremely useful. The game teaches you this mechanic within the first hour, but you might have missed it.

Other than that, however, there’s no hard lock-on mechanic. Like, you can’t just press R3 or whatever and thereby focus on just one enemy, with the ability to juke around them. It’s unusual that the developers opted to go without a hard lock-on, and that does make things a little clunky. However, it’s not too much of a problem; you’ll get used to it fairly quickly. The only exceptions are duels against bosses, but the game will automatically lock onto them; you don’t have to do a thing.

So, that’s that when it comes to locking onto enemies in Ghost of Tsushima. If you need help with anything else in the game, feel free to check out some of our other guides.
