Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris Prometheus Lens Is Bugged, Says Bungie

The Prometheus Lens exotic trace rifle in the Curse of Osiris DLC has caused a bit of a kerfuffle. The reason is that the new trace rifle can kill another Guardian in a flash. As a result, the Crucible is a nightmare. Guardians are even calling for the cancellation of this week’s Trials of the Nine. There’s a reason for this; apparently, the Prometheus Lens is bugged. Bungie will be looking into the situation.

Some people that have been playing Destiny 2 since the Curse of Osiris DLC launched have managed to get their hands on the Prometheus Lens Trace Rifle. As a weapon, it works very similarly to the Coldheart. The main difference is that it dispenses solar damage. It’s intrinsic perk, Prismatic Inferno, makes the solar trace beam stronger the longer you fire. Another thing it can do is return ammo to the magazine after you score a kill with the Prometheus Lens. And it’s a completely overpowered beast that completely throws off the PvP.

As many people have pointed out on Reddit, the Prometheus Lens is currently thoroughly ruining the Crucible for people that don’t have it. The gun can cut down another Guardian in a matter of seconds. So, if somebody in the match comes armed with the trace rifle, they’re able to wreak total mayhem, and the opposing team can do nothing about it. Well, Bungie has responded to the situation. According to David “DeeJ” Dague’s Twitter, the Prometheus Lens has shipped with a bug. The devs will address the issue on the “This Week at Bungie” blog later on.

Fans will no doubt be happy to hear this, since they’ve been calling for the cancellation of this week’s Trials of the Nine. And, that is a pretty fair demand, considering how devastating the Prometheus Lens is. Although, some Guardians have made suggestions of separate multiplayer modes where you can only use the Prometheus Lens. I don’t know about you, but that actually sounds kinda fun.
