Destiny 2 Exotic Ciphers are a new currency that has been added to the game in the Season of Arrivals. The Exotic Ciphers in Destiny 2 are very very rare, but very worth the trouble, because you use them to buy neat stuff from Xur or Master Rahool. Due to how rare the Exotic Ciphers are, people are wondering how to obtain them most efficiently. Well, that’s what we’ll be discussing in our How to Get Exotic Ciphers in Destiny 2 guide.

Destiny 2 Exotic Ciphers – How to Get?

There are several ways that you can get Exotic Ciphers in Destiny 2, including leveling your season pass, completing various activities and events, and, in particular, playing the Contact public event on Heroic. For more details on that, check out our Contact Heroic Public Event – How to Start guide. No matter how you choose to do it (and might as well try every avenue), you have to keep in mind that the Exotic Ciphers are a very, very rare drop. With that said, let’s go into a bit more detail.

The most obvious route is, of course, leveling your season pass to level 55. Whether you’re running with a free or paid season pass, you’ll get an Exotic Cipher there. That’s not really much, is it? Well, there’s also a very slim chance you’ll get one from doing Raids or Nightfall, as well as completing matches in the Crucible and Gambit. If you are truly chosen by Fate, you might even receive an Exotic Cipher as a world drop.

So, your true best bet is to keep farming the newly-added Contact public event on Io. Again, you want to make it Heroic. The higher season pass levels of the fireteam, the greater your odds of getting an Exotic Cipher; so, the more you and other people play the game, the better your odds overall.

Once you do manage to get your hands on an Exotic Cipher, what can you do with it? Well, you can spend them at Xur’s to buy a second Fated Engram each week. Alternatively, you can take it to Master Rahool and purchase an exotic from previous seasons. Be very careful what you choose, though, because, and I can’t overstate this enough, Exotic Ciphers are excruciatingly rare.
