Destiny 2 New Worlds & Areas Shown Off in Trailer

Bungie have released another trailer for Destiny 2. It’s all about the new worlds and areas we’ll get to explore – Titan, Nessus, Io and the European Dead Zone on Earth. If you’ve watched the livestream reveal in its entirety, you’ve already seen all of this. If not, it’s a great way to quickly get to know the new environments.

They video covers four new planets – we don’t know if these are the only zones we’ll get to visit, or just a part of the total. The universe map shown in the trailer suggests the former. Here’s what you can expect:

  • European Dead Zone – The largest single area Bungie have ever built, possibly twice the size of the second largest. It’s the place where humanity sets up their new base camp after the assault on the Tower. It’s basically a remote village in the middle of a forest in Europe – old, derelict farmhouses, barns and silos turned into the new headquarters for the force that’s supposed to take back what Ghaul took from them.
  • Titan – Titan is a moon of Saturn, and there’s no solid ground on it. It’s completely covered by a methane ocean, and every structure is built on stilts. This is where commander Zavala is hiding out. The centerpiece is a former human complex of great size that’s slowly sinking into the ocean. Hopefully there’s a ban on using solar weapons there, or else it’s not gonna last long.
  • Nessus – A planetoid conquered by the Vex. It has beautiful trees with red leaves, and it’s the place where Cayde decided to set up shop. There’s a strong contrast between the Vex machinery and the indigenous flora.
  • Io – One of Jupiter’s moons, Io has an abundance of yellow, thanks to the copious amounts of sulfur found in everything there. It’s the last place the Traveler visited before the Collapse, so it’s going to be a treat, lore-wise. Warlocks consider it a sacred place, which is why Ikora went there after the assault.

Destiny 2 is going to be released on Playstation 4 and Xbox One on September 8th. The PC version will launch at some point after that. There’s going to be a beta during the summer.
