Can I Return to God of War Witch’s Cave?

Yes, you can! In fact, you’ll be required to do so as you follow the main story. In what we can call Chapter 6, the game will take you back into the Witch’s Cave. The first time you visit the location, you’ll certainly notice that there’s a lot that can be found down there. Unfortunately for you, pretty much everything is out of your reach. So, you’ll have to wait until Kratos and Atreus earn some new abilities.

The most you can do is to head down to the bottom on the right, and push the pallet with a bunch of rocks into the water. Use that to jump onto the little bit of dry land and find the Mask artifact. Then move on for now. If the game doesn’t let you go back immediately, that’s fine; just keep pushing forward.

How to Come Back to Witch’s Cave in God of War?

Once the game tells you that you can go back to the Witch’s Cave, your first order of business is to return to the Lake of Nine. Once you get there, find a boat. Then, row towards the south (the game will give you a marker to follow). After a short time, the gigantic statue of Thor will come into view. Row between its legs and into a cavern.

Keep following the marker until you reach the Witch’s Cave. You’ll immediately notice that the water level has gone down. The dock you will use this time is different than the one that you used to leave. When you dock, you’ll notice an elevator covered in the gross, red growth. Fortunately, there’s a red sap crystal right there, so use Atreus’s Lightning Arrow to clear the path. There’s also a Mystic Gate there, for future fast travel needs. Ride the elevator to the top, and you’ll find yourself in the familiar surroundings of the Witch’s Cave.

Once you can fast travel anywhere, you can return to the Witch’s Cave easily from any other Mystic Gate.

Witch’s Cave Exploration in God of War – How to Get Collectibles?

There’s several important collectibles you can find in the Witch’s Cave, and every one of them requires a different approach. You can find a Horn of Blood Mead rune chest, which you can reach if you head right from the long wooden bridge. One of the runes you need to destroy is above the Hidden Chamber door, which you can open if you have the Magic Chisel. Inside the chamber is a Valkyrie you can kill, and that will award you a Talisman.

When you exit the elevator from the dock, you’ll notice a passage blocked by red goop on your right. Shoot the crystal with the appropriate arrow, and you’ll clear the path to a chest with a Muspelheim Cipher Piece. Last, but certainly not the least, is the Turtle’s Tribute Treasure Map. You can find it by heading left from the rune chest, creating a bridge of light, and breaking a wall of red growth.

How to Solve Sand Bowl Puzzle in Witch’s Cave?

There’s an iron gate to the left of the Hidden Chamber door. Once you go through it, you’ll notice a sand bowl on a raised platform. Once you clear the area of enemies, look to your right. You’ll spot a climbable wall blocked by some planks, so use the axe to destroy them. Then, approach the wall and give Atreus a boost up. Next, head left and free the loaded pallet, then drag it to where Atreus is standing.

Atreus will hop onto the pallet, so drag it back to its original position, all the way to the left. Use the axe to clear the way, and Atreus will run to the bowl. Now, look to the ceiling to the left of the bowl. You’ll some runes peeking behind a wooden obstruction. Reveal the runes by tossing the axe. Then, turn to Atreus and hit Square when the prompt appears on-screen. This will solve the puzzle, and the sand basin platform will come down. Hop over and loot the newly-revealed chest.
