Destiny 2 Farm Social Space Detailed in Dev Tour Video

The Farm is going to be the first social space we get to visit in Destiny 2. The hub will be hidden in a rural farm estate somewhere in Europe, and it’s where the guardians will plot to return their power and stop Ghaul. A recent developer tour has offered us the first details about it, so there’s finally something to grab onto.

The video comes via IGN, who sat down with Ryan Ebenger, Bungie’s narrative lead, and talked about the hub. Apart from other guardians and vendors, you’ll also find civilians at The Farm, since it’s a proper place of refuge for everyone from the city. As you progress through the story, the population will increase, and vital characters will come and go. The devs promise activities and events tied to the location, but Ebenger didn’t want to go into detail.

The postmaster will be making a return, naturally, and he’ll be stationed in the main plaza. Tyra Karn will be reprising her role as Cryptarch, which means the god-awful engrams will be making a return as well. Yay for that. You can see a barn that was turned into a mini hangar, where sparrows and ships are constantly being repaired. Most importantly, there will be chickens roaming the social space.

As is customary nowadays, there will be a place to while away the time while you’re waiting for the matchmaking algorithm to find you some comrades. There’s a soccer field behind the farm, with two goals and a disconcertingly large ball. You can play with other guardians there, and the game will keep tabs, with fireworks whenever someone scores a goal. We don’t know how it will work, given Destiny’s tanky character movement, but you’ll be able to do a sliding kick, so everything’s good.
