Nathan Fillion won’t be coming back to voice Cayde-6 in Destiny 2 Forsaken. Instead, he’ll be replaced by Nolan North. It makes sense, speaking strictly financially, but I have a feeling that Destiny fans would have still liked for Fillion to stay for Cayde’s swan song.
What an end to an era. As many Destiny fans are already aware, the Destiny 2 Forsaken DLC is going to say goodbye to Cayde-6. Spoilers: his death is basically going to be one of the catalysts to the plot of Forsaken. What could be a better motivation to destroy Prince Uldren than the death of such a beloved character? Personally, Cayde was the only character I ever cared about, so I will certainly enjoy seeing that goth reject Uldren dead. But, that’s not the only farewell we’ll have to bid, as it turns out.
In a recent interview with Kotaku, Nathan Fillion has confirmed something that the fans have already been suspecting, especially after the E3 2018 demo. As it turns out, Fillion did not reprise his voice role as Cayde in Destiny 2 Forsaken. Instead, it was the voice acting jack-of-all-trades when it comes to gaming, Nolan North. Makes sense fiscally, I guess. If you’ve ever needed evidence of synchronicity, then look no further than this. Nolan North has taken over the role of Cayde, while Nathan Fillion played the role of Nathan Drake in a new fan-made film. North has provided the voice of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series from the very start.
Destiny 2 Forsaken is coming out on September 4th, on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It’s going to introduce a ton of new stuff, including new supers, strikes, daily heroic missions, and a lot more. And, of course, the chance to avenge the death of brave old Cayde-6.
