Destiny 2 PC Open Beta Controls & Other Things To Know

In their latest blog post, Bungie have published some info you should know before jumping into the Destiny 2 PC open beta. They wrote about how to use chat, how to preload, and they’ve even made a list of Destiny 2 PC controls. If you’re thinking of giving it a go, you should probably take a look.

The preload will start later today – if you’re going to play, you can download the beta from Battle.net during the weekend. The first thing the post talked about after the whole preload/code mess are the PC controls. They’ll be completely customizable (as they should be), but they still went and made the image above to explain the default control scheme. We’ve made a list from it, in case you’re on mobile or simply hate pictures.

  • Move forward – W
  • Move backward – S
  • Strafe left – A
  • Strage right – D
  • Aim – Right mouse button
  • Fire – Left mouse button
  • Switch weapon – Mouse wheel
  • Jump – Space
  • Sprint – Shift
  • Crouch – Control
  • Throw grenade – Q
  • Interact – E
  • Reload – R
  • Super ability – F
  • Melee – C
  • Air move – X
  • Highlight player – G
  • Kinetic weapon – 1
  • Energy weapon – 2
  • Power weapon – 3
  • Summon ghost – Tab
  • Character menu – F1
  • Emotes – Arrow keys

As you can see, it’s pretty standard fare. It’ll be strange, though, playing Destiny with a keyboard and mouse. The post also mentioned text chat, something that’s unique to the PC version. It isn’t completely implemented yet, so you’ll only have the options to talk to your fireteam (by typing /f before the message), or single players (/w). They plan on adding team chat and clan chat as well, but there’s no mention of being able to talk to other players in your vicinity, which would be pretty nice.

Destiny 2 PC beta will start on August 29th (a day earlier if you preorder), and the full game will be released on October 24th.
