How to Get Dappled Black Thoroughbred RDR2 Preorder Bonus Horse?

To get the Dappled Black Thoroughbred preorder bonus horse in Red Dead Redemption 2, much like the War Horse preorder bonus, you’ll have to go to a stable. You won’t be able to do so until you reach chapter 2, and the gang sets up camp. The easiest way to get to a stable is to pick up the Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego quest. You take that from Hosea, whose chilling out in the camp.

Basically, the first order of business in this quest is to saddle up one of Hosea’s horses and sell it at the stable. This section of the quest is real easy. All you need to do is simply follow Hosea until you reach your goal. The two of you will eventually end up at the Amos Levi Blacksmith & Farrier stable. If you dismount and enter the stable without Hosea’s horse, nothing will happen. Instead, you have to go inside with the horse.

After the cutscene, you can buy yourself a horse. Scroll through them until you find the Dappled Black Thoroughbred. It’s called just Thoroughbred in the menu. And, of course, it will be free. You can also shop around for some other items, such as the Horse Reviver. When you’re done, continue on your way. Incidentally, if you continue with this quest (as you should), you’ll eventually unlock the RDR 2 Horse Brush to clean your horse. And, if you’re wondering about the choice near the end, we have that covered to in our Split Up or Leave Bait – Bear Hunting guide.
