Red Dead Redemption 2 How to Steal Train – Driving & Controls

How to steal a train in RDR2?

There are two ways to go about this – you can either steal a train when you see one passing through the wilderness, or you can steal it from the station. If it’s the former, you need to ride alongside the train then jump onto one of the wagons. If you want to steal from the station, you’ll need to buy a ticket in order to summon one. The next part is identical for both options – you simply go to the locomotive, throw the driver out and take control of the train.

If you steal the train in the wilderness, you can kill the driver without witnesses and get no bounty on your head. If you’re in town, you’re bound to become wanted, regardless of whether you kill or spare the driver.

Once you’re in the locomotive, press triangle (Y on Xbox) to assume control. The controls will be listed in the lower right corner – you can only accelerate using X (A on Xbox), brake/reverse using R1 (RB) or use the bell and whistle. The last two are there just for fun – or warning pedestrians in towns that you’re about to run them over.
