To fix the “bug” where the Essence of Fear quest doesn’t appear in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep, try and visit the Postmaster. See, the Essence of Fear mission is supposed to unlock after you kill Nightmare of Phogoth, The Untamed. If you’ve beaten him, you probably already have the quest in line. If you don’t have it in your list, then check with the Postmaster.

See, Shadowkeep is has this new gameplay mechanic. If your quest log becomes to full, then all the quests are gonna go straight to the Postmaster. You can pick them up at your leisure. In fact, you might wanna pay him a visit anyway, just to see if you have any missions on the back burner without even knowing it. So, yeah; it might not be a bug at all, just a new thing in Destiny 2 that you might have not been aware of.

To complete the Essence of Fear quest in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep, and earn the Dreambane Plate chest armor, all you have to do is kill 100 Nightmares on the Moon. This might sound like a daunting task, but it really isn’t that bad. We recommend that you make your way to Sorrow’s Harbor. The whole area is crawling with Nightmares. There are several rings in the area where they pretty much constantly spawn. So, just keep trolling around Sorrow’s Harbor, and you’ll have 100 Nightmares under the belt in no time.

After that’s done, head over to the Lectern of Enchantment to pick up your Dreambane Plate. That’s it.
