Rasputin Key Fragments in Destiny 2 Forsaken are a collectible carrying over from the Warmind DLC. They are necessary for getting the Encrypted Cache Key from the Mars vendor Ana Bray. Destiny 2 Rasputin Key Fragments work the same in the Forsaken DLC, but the drop chance has been lowered, causing some confusion among Guardians. Because of all of this, here’s our Destiny 2 Forsaken Rasputin Key Fragments guide, explaining how to get the key fragments and how to use them.
Rasputin Key Fragments – How to Get in Destiny 2 Forsaken?
To get Rasputin Key Fragments in Destiny 2 Forsaken, you basically have to do the same things like in the Warmind DLC. For one, you can complete heroic strikes and / or heroic adventures on Mars. There’s a chance you’ll get two Rasputin Key Fragments as a Rare drop from these activities. That’s the main change in the Forsaken DLC; the Key Fragments are now a Rare drop. This has been causing some confusion among players.
On the other hand, you can also complete Nightfalls. It seems that beating a Nightfall can grant you a guaranteed drop of seven Rasputin Key Fragments, which is basically all you need. I say it seems, because the game is in a constant flux, so it may change at some point. As for right now, though, Nightfalls are the best source of Rasputin Key Fragments. The only problem there is that Nightfalls are truly difficult. So, it’s up to you to decide what’s easier for you to get Rasputin Key Fragments – grinding heroics, or braving a Nightfall.
How to Get Encrypted Cache Key & How to Decrypt Them – Destiny 2 Forsaken Rasputin Key Fragments
Once you have seven Rasputin Key Fragments, your next order of business is to go to Ana Bray, a vendor on Mars. Use the seven Rasputin Key Fragments to purchase an Encrypted Cache Key. You can do this only once a week, and can only carry around one Encrypted Key at any given time.
To turn the Encrypted Cache Key into a Decrypted Cache Key, you have to complete about seven Escalation Protocol levels on Mars. Basically, just keep playing Escalation Protocol until the game tells you that you have a Decrypted Cache Key. You can have as many of those in your inventory as you want.
How to use Destiny 2 Forsaken Decrypted Cache Key?
Once you have a Decrypted Cache Key, the situation is the same as in the days of the Warmind DLC. You have to beat Escalation Protocol all the way to the end. It’s way more difficult than it sounds; you’ll likely need a reliable fireteam on your side. Once you manage to climb to the top of Escalation Protocol and kill the final boss, he will drop a loot chest, as all of them do. In order to open said chest, you’ll need the Decrypted Cache Key. That’s all there is to it.
