Division 2 Printer Filament - Where to Find & Farm Epic Material

Printer filaments are an epic crafting material in The Division 2. They’re pieces of plastic used in 3D printers, and they’ll help you create many items, including advanced skill mods. Since they’re pretty rare (purple), some players are wondering if there’s a good way to get them in decent quantities. This guide will show you where to find printer filaments in Division 2.

How to get printer filament?

From what we’ve seen thus far, the best way to get printer filaments is by deconstructing equipment. Although their color/rarity would make you thing they’d drop only from higher tier items, we’ve found them in everything from green to purple stuff. They might even drop from the most basic items, but you’ll rarely get them either way.

This is why it’s important to pick the deconstruction perk before you start destroying stuff en masse. The first level of this perk will give you more materials from deconstruction, and the second will increase your chances of getting rare materials this way. Once you’ve bought both of these perks, you’ll notice you’re getting much more printer filaments than before. Still, use them sparingly, as it will be a long time before you’re actually drowning in them.

We haven’t seen any in random containers or as enemy loot drops, but if we do, we’ll be sure to investigate and update the guide accordingly. If you know of a better way to get printer filaments, feel free to share it in the comments.

In the meantime, make sure to check out some of our other guides if you’re stuck with anything else. We’ve written about loads of stuff, including mission puzzles, secret rooms, Hyenas keys, upgrading the Lullaby shotgun, how to create clans and how to use chat commands.
