Destiny 2 Best Exotic Weapons We've Seen So Far

Exotic weapons in Destiny 2 are the most rare and… well, exotic items you’ll have the chance to try out. They aren’t inherently stronger than legendary gear, but their perks are what sets them apart. In the week since launch, players have discovered a bunch of interesting exotics with various useful perks, and some favorites are already starting to appear in the community.

Mida Multi-Tool Exotic Scout Rifle

If you’ve played the first game, you might remember the Mida Multi-Tool. It’s a scout rifle that increases your movement speed when equipped, and allow you to see your radar even when you’re aiming down sights. This time, it’s paired with a legendary submachine gun, and you can obtain both by finishing the Mida Multi-Tool exotic quest. There’s a nasty bug in the quest, so we’d advise against it until it’s fixed.

Sturm Exotic Hand Cannon

The Sturm is an all new hand cannon that automatically reloads your energy weapon’s ammo when you score kills with it. Although it’s already a nice little pistol, when paired with the legendary Drang, it’s unstoppable. Drang refills Sturm’s ammo when you kill people with it. Infinite reloading! You can get both through the Sturm exotic quest.

Rat King Exotic Sidearm

The Rat King is a sidearm with an engraved rat pack on its sides. This already makes it worth having, but the perk really sells it. Its damage will multiply for every other fireteam member with a Rat King of their own, up to six times its original output. The only way to obtain is by completing the Rat King exotic quest.

Merciless Exotic Fusion Rifle

Merciless is a boss killer. It’s a fusion rifle that has a really boss-centric perk. Every time you hit someone with it without killing them, it’ll decrease the charging time. The buff only resets when you kill someone with it, so it’s a great fit for bosses. It also does more damage if you reload right after a shot, and has eight magazine slots.

Coldheart Exotic Trace Rifle

The Coldheart is a one-of-a-kind, a completely new weapon type in Destiny 2. It leaves a laser trail when you shoot it, damaging everyone it touches. Sadly, it’s only available to those who’ve preordered the game, and even then not immediately. The rest will have to wait until December.

Skyburner’s Oath Exotic Scout Rifle

The Skyburner’s Oath is an exotic scout rifle that deals additional damage when you aim down sights, is stronger against all sorts of Cabal enemies and can penetrate those damned Phalanx shields. You want it, trust me.

Vigilance Wing Exotic Pulse Rifle

You might call this Osiris-themed pulse rifle Vigilance Wign, but for a lot of folks, it shall be known as Coward’s Friend instead. It’s a great looking gun with a perk that increases your health regeneration and movement speed whenever an ally is killed. It can be used to increase your chance to survive while you revive, or to help you escape when everyone else’s bleeding to death.

Prospector Exotic Grenade Launcher

The Prospector is an exotic grenade launcher that can be seen as a get-out-of-jail-free card. It allows you to hold down the fire button and shoot out up to eight grenades, which explode simultaneously as soon as you let go of the trigger. The projectiles will do Arc damage. Not that it matters, though. There’ll be eight of them.

Tractor Cannon Exotic Shotgun

Although people are already referring to at as the portal gun, the Tractor Cannon doesn’t have much in common with it. Except for the looks, of course. It’s an exotic shotgun that has the power to blast people away, letting you push unsuspecting enemies of ledges, into bottomless pits and so on.

Graviton Lance Exotic Pusle Rifle

The Graviton Lance is a pulse rifle that makes corpses explode. It also opens up tiny black holes from time to time. What’s not to love? Your first chance to get it will be during a story quest, but you’ll have to choose between it and two other equally appealing exotics – the Riskrunner and the Sunshot.
